One for the books! This show will combine music from both acts as well as collaborations.
Doors at 8:30pm, show at 9:30pm in the main bar.
The Uplifters:
Made up of some of Toronto’s finest musical maverick improvisers – the Uplifters do all they can to live up to their name. Everytime! Formed while on tour supporting West African Kora virtuoso Mansa Sissoko – the band bonded over a shared love of New Orleans soul, funk and jazz. With their big book tunes – theirs is the sound of exuberant funkiness and fearless exploration. The Uplifters are: Dave Clark (drums/vox: Rheostatics, Gord Downie, Dinner is Ruined), Michael Herring (bass/vox: Peripheral Vision, Way North) and Jason Kenemy (keys/vox: Delfi’s, Woodshed Orchestra, New Digs!).
Charles Spearin:
Multi-Juno winner Charles Spearin is a Canadian multi-instrumentalist and composer from Toronto, Ontario. Most widely known as a founding member of indie rock bands Do Make Say Think and Broken Social Scene – he is a successful and powerful solo artist beginning with his ground-breaking 2009 album “The Happiness Project”. He has toured extensively with Ms. Leslie Feist and played bass on Gord Downie’s “Secret Path”. He is a warm and engaging performer and knows how to rock a stage!
