The Island Talks – Information Session
LOOKING FOR GREAT IDEAS FOR WOLFE ISLAND
Do you have an idea that would make our island even more fabulous? If so, mark your calendar. We’re inviting you to bring your ideas to the table on the evening of November 9 at the Hotel Wolfe Island.
WHY WE WANT YOU THERE
This past summer, The Island Talks, which launched with six local author readings, had amazing turnouts on the Hotel patio and great conversations followed. To keep the magic of community conversation going, we’re planning a new series of winter Talks to explore the future of our island. We’ll be hosting one Talk a month from January to April. That’s where you come in.
If you have a juicy topic you think your fellow Islanders would like to explore, stand up and pitch it! If you prefer, put it in writing and we’ll present it for you.
Then, help us decide (by polite show of hands, loud whistling or foot stomping) which ideas we should explore for The Island Talks. If the community gets behind our ideas, who knows what we can make happen! The Island Talks is affiliated with the Wolfe Island Commons, a not-for-profit org that can apply for and receive grants for our community.
SOME QUESTIONS TO GET YOU THINKING
- How can we increase our capacity to care for each other and our island?
- How can Islanders have more fun without having to catch the ferry to Kingston?
- How can we improve our capacity for self-reliance through local jobs, healthcare, food, housing and culture?
- How can we strengthen protection of our precious natural environment, reduce our carbon footprint, and increase island biodiversity?
WE CAN’T WAIT TO HEAR YOUR IDEAS. SEE YOU THERE!
Date: Wednesday, November 9 @ 7pm
Place: Piano Bar, Hotel Wolfe Island
Feel free to order drink and food from the hotel dining room and bring it into the Piano Room to enjoy!
