Poplar / Jenny Lapp / Liam Fenton
Poplar is a genre bending indie band from Kingston, Ontario known for their intricately arranged lyrics and melodies. Featuring local darlings Kieran L’abbe (vocals, guitar, keys) , Michael Broadhead (bass) and Liam Cole (drums).
Jenny Lapp writes songs rooted in a folk sensibility that span between ethereal drifting and earthly storytelling. Though originally from rural Ontario, for six years she was based out of Halifax, where she came of age with one foot in sacred choral music and the other in the local folk scene. Right now she is making home between Kingston and Montreal. Her music seeks to pull opposites together – it is intricate but clarifying, soft but driving, and both concealing and revealing. She is a member of alt-country supergroup The Darnings, and folk duo Foghorn.
With opener Liam Fenton, a local woodworker and musician in equal measure, playing solo originals you won’t want to miss!
