Zubeck, Perri, and Brown
Nick Zubeck is an atypical and adventurous singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist using a wide palette of acoustic and electric sounds. Heavy on beautiful arrangements, instrumental passages, and thoughtful lyrics. Nick has also kept busy as a sideman working with varied groups like Great Lake Swimmers, Sandro Perri, Barzin, Sun Kil Moon, Royal Wood, Dana Sipos, Rich Burnett, Roxanne Potvin, and many others.
Sandro Perri Sandro Perri is a music maker from Toronto currently residing in PEC. With over two dozen releases in circulation (solo and group format), he has also appeared on hundreds of recordings as producer or studio engineer. His music has been long-listed three times for the Polaris Music Prize, nominated for a SOCAN songwriting award and appeared on HBO, Netflix and AppleTV. Exclaim crowned his recent work an “outsider pop masterpiece” while Pitchfork called it “visionary in both content and form”. Collaborators (remix, studio, live performance, writing) include Destroyer, John Oswald, Stephen Malkmus (Pavement), Peter Zummo, Eric Chenaux, Andre Ethier, Joseph Shabason, Masahiro Takahashi, Mary Margaret O’Hara, Jesse Zubot, Asa Chang & Junray, and Canadian electronic music pioneer Hugh LeCaine. He has performed around the world at festivals such as Primavera Sound, MUTEK, All Tomorrows Parties, Wordless Music NYC, MusicNOW, End Of The Road, Osheaga, Barbican London, Red Bull Music Academy, MOMA PS/1, and Nuit Blanche.
Hugh Christopher “Chris” Brown is a Wolfe Island-based singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer known for his work with the Bourbon Tabernacle Choir in the 1980s/90s. He is a co-owner of Hotel Wolfe Island and operates Wolfe Island Records. Brown is a prolific producer and collaborator, having worked with artists like Ani DiFranco, Barenaked Ladies, and Crash Test Dummies. He is also a social justice activist who founded the Pros and Cons program, mentoring inmates in music production.
