Metsaema / Anthony Sutton
Metsaema (previously known as The Salty Lemon Stringband) is just about as diverse as you get when it comes to musical energy and repertoire. From Eastern European dance music and French Mazurkas to early turn of the century American Ragtime and New Orleans jazz, Metsaema will keep you dancing the night through!
Anthony Sutton is a singer, songwriter, and arranger with the guitar accompanying himself. As a solo musician and as a member of various projects, he toured the lower 48 states co-billing shows with artists such as Molly Tuttle, Old Crow Medicine Show, and Sierra Ferrell. Adept in Pre-War Blues and Ragtime, he combines his love of folklore and ethnomusicology to create an intimate experience layering his own stylings while preserving the soul of America’s rich musical history. Born with the restlessness of the songs he sings, Sutton left his rural Indiana hometown to hitchhike and wander the country at a young age. Anthony has worked primarily as a street musician as many of his musical idols have. To overcome the noise of city sidewalks Sutton’s playing and singing is loud, crisp, and controlled. He has a song and story for every mile.
