This singer will be serenading your oyster tastings! A delicious weekend is planned for October 23-25, as Shucker Paddy returns to shuck and entertain for Oystoberfest!
For over two decades, Franco-Ontarian songstress Joanne Morra has performed jazz, blues, and funk across Toronto and the GTA, earning recognition as a sought-after bilingual singer for festivals, live music venues and corporate events.
Her 2017 debut album “Alouette,” self-produced with Eric St-Laurent, showcases her warm, sensual vocals through an acoustic collection blending Québécois rock, jazz standards, blues, and German cabaret with original compositions and reimagined French folk songs.
A self-directed learner, Morra has deepened her craft through a French-language songwriting residency in Petite-Vallée, Gaspésie. Her multifaceted talent has earned critical acclaim. The Toronto Star called her “a chanteuse of the first order,” while CBC praised her “unwillingness to be pegged as just a jazz singer.” Her mission is to sing songs she loves, regardless of the genre, and to seamlessly live and perform in both official languages.
This is Joanne’s first appearance at the Hotel Wolfe Island, she will be accompanied by Toronto guitarist Evan Desaulnier for two acoustic sets of bilingual jazz, blues, and French chanson.
