As island dwellers, we are acutely aware of the challenges/barriers accessing emergency services.
As Wolfe Island dwellers, we are exceptionally privileged to have the VOLUNTEER crew of approximately 30 committed, passionate humans who make up our Wolfe Island Fire and Rescue. These stellar humans respond to every call as though it was family and serve our community with professional excellence. BECAUSE WE NEED THEM TO.
NEW DONATION INFO:
Want to donate an additional amount? Or perhaps you can’t make it to the event, but would like to contribute?
ONLINE: Scroll down to the ticket area below (“BOOK EVENT”), we’ve added a Donations option there. Simply type in the amount you’d like to donate, in $1 increments.
CHEQUE: made payable to Wolfe Island Fire and Rescue
CASH: send to W.I.F.R. P.O. Box 200, Wolfe Island, ON K0H 2Y0
W.I.F.R. FUNDRAISING GOAL: $20,000
PURPOSE: Purchase and install Air Fill Station for Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus. The current one is 35 years old, takes only one bottle at a time and takes 15 minutes to fill. The new one can fill 3 at a time.
GOING FORWARD, the W.I.F.R will also be looking to raise funds to purchase a BURN BUILDING SEA CONTAINER to use for live fire training for firefighters.
CERTIFICATION TRAINING of all the volunteer firefighters is a huge time commitment. Again, having these humans go off Island to meet the training requirements is not only a potential barrier for maintaining volunteer numbers, it also leaves our community short on staff and equipment.
LET’S SHOW OUR GRATITUDE AND SUPPORT FOR THE UNWAVERING COMMITMENT OF OUR COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER FIRE AND RESCUE CREW BY RAISING MONEY, AWARENESS AND BOOTSCOOT-BOOGIE VIBES TOGETHER! 🔥🔥🔥
Special thanks to Alix Carr-Harris of Haymakers Coffee for writing and gathering the above information.
BIG TOBACCO & THE PICKERS
Since 2008, Big Tobacco & the Pickers have been bringing their unique brand of traditional country to bar rooms, taverns, halls and festivals around Ontario. Their ongoing monthly residency at Toronto roots institution The Cameron House, has gained them a loyal following of country music fans.
Regular appearances at legendary rooms like The Dakota Tavern and The Cadillac Lounge, have helped develop their gritty live show into what it is today – a glimpse back at the golden age of country music. Their renditions of the hard hitting classics, along with traditional sounding original material, will make you and your friends want to dance all night, drink too much, and leave you wanting more.
From the rich tones of the pedal steel, to the hot licks of the Fender Telecaster, Big Tobacco & the Pickers deliver a new brand of country music, true to old school tradition.
