Inner Harbour Trio: Blue Note Break Beats
This month, the Inner Harbour Trio pay tribute to the classic Blue Note music from the 60s that inspired acid jazz and hip hop in the 90s, featuring the music of Grant Green, Wes Mongomery, Jimmy Smith, Cannonball Adderly, and many more. Joining the trio will be Hugh Christopher Brown on keys, and Pete Bowers on drums.
Nathalie Craan and Dave Beckstead have been performing together for more than 30 years in a variety of formats including duo, trio and larger ensembles up to full big bands. Their music encompasses classic jazz performed with modern twists and contemporary music with a jazz aesthetic. Their trio now includes Helena Hannibal on sax.
Nathalie and Dave have performed in Canada, Europe, Africa, Asia and the Caribbean. Highlights include a US State Department, “Jazz Ambassadors” tour of Madagascar, an 8-year house gig at Beijing’s CD Jazz Café, a performance at the Forbidden City Concert Hall as part of the Beijing, Nine Gates Jazz Festival and a 5-year association with Redbones Blues Café in Kingston, Jamaica, and now call Kingston, Ontario home.
