The Island Talks: Children’s Author Sunaira Tejpar
Sunaira Tejpar, children’s author and Queen’s Ph.D. candidate, reads I Love Myself Because. Bring the kids to this one!
The vision behind this book is to introduce powerful concepts (i.e., empathy, resilience, tenacity, courage) to children at a young age. Integrating such powerful words into children’s vocabulary may help empower them to develop self-compassion during times of difficulty. Further, the book encompasses positive personality traits by pulling on the strengths of various animals.

The Island Talks speaker series launched in the Summer of 2022 with six local author readings, had amazing turnouts on the Hotel patio, and great conversations followed. To keep the magic going, we’ve been hosting Talks featuring community conversations on social and environmental issues throughout the Winter and Spring, as well as the Summer literary talks.
The Island Talks gratefully acknowledges the support from The Writers’ Union of Canada, the Canada Council for the Arts, the Wolfe Island Commons, and the Hotel Wolfe Island.
